1. You have been identified as an outstanding junior or sophomore in your school. You are invited to the 2009 Service Academy/Reserve Officer Training Corps Day (ROTC) at the Opa Locka Coast Guard Station on Saturday morning, 18 April 2009. Service Academy appointments receive a full 4-year scholarship. ROTC offers partial and full scholarships at many civilian colleges. We invite you and your parents to this special event which will focus on the admission process and lifestyle as a cadet in the AIR FORCE ACADEMY, MILITARY ACADEMY (West Point), NAVAL ACADEMY (Annapolis), COAST GUARD ACADEMY, and MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY. ROTC scholarship procedures for the different services will also be discussed.
2. The program will be held in building 110, which is 300 yards on the right from the gate of the Coast Guard Station (see directions and map attached). There is ample parking on the southwest side of building 113. The program will last from 9:00a.m. to approximately 12:30p.m. The agenda will include a prominent guest speaker, a junior officer panel discussion with Academy and ROTC graduates, and a static display of several Coast Guard aircraft. Representatives from all the service academies and ROTC programs, as well as aides from southern Florida Congressional offices, will attend to answer questions regarding the application and nomination processes.
3. Please RSVP as soon as possible to 954-482-3829, or e-mail
