AIR FORCE RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS

The Mission of the Air Force ROTC

"To recruit, educate, and commission officer candidates through a college campus program in response to Air Force requirements."

The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) prepares young men and women with the skills necessary to become leaders in our military.  You will receive training and the education to assume positions of increasing responsibility in today's high-tech Air Force environment.  We offer scholarships to help you complete your bachelor's degree, leadership training to prepare you to meet the challenges of your future, and the pride and prestige of being an officer in the United States Air Force.

The Air Force ROTC program offers three and four year scholarships to high school seniors and graduates not enrolled full time in college.  Air Force ROTC is offered at over 900 colleges and universities in the continental United States, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.  The scholarships are offered in all academic majors necessary to meet Air Force needs.  These needs can change from year to year.  You are permitted to indicate up to three academic majors that you would like to pursue.  The majority of scholarships are targeted to students pursuing technical degrees.  However, there is ample scholarship opportunity for those pursuing non-technical degree programs as well.  Air Force ROTC scholarships are competitive and are based on individual merit not financial need.

If the college you wish to attend does not have an Air Force ROTC detachment, the chances are that the school has a cross-town enrollment agreement with a college hosting an Air Force ROTC unit.  For example, if you wish to attend Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, you would attend your regular college classes at Lynn but take the ROTC courses across town at the University of Miami detachment.

Normally, to be eligible for scholarship consideration, you must achieve a SAT composite score of 1100 or an ACT composite score of 24.  You also need to have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher and be ranked in the top 40% of your class.  If you do not the minimum academic requirements, you can still apply if you have other outstanding leadership credentials.
